Just a few hundred meters after the start of today's stage, we reach the Huttaler Widerwaage: a small, at first glance, seemingly insignificant basin, with which the direction of flow of the water in the ditches could be reversed. "Raising water through water": the Upper Harz water management with its 107 ponds and 310 kilometers of trenches in the Upper Harz has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010 because it is by far the largest and most important pre-industrial energy supply system in the world. The second stage is themed: "Upper Harz Water Management" For almost the entire stage, the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg runs directly alongside ponds, ditches and watercourses of the "Upper Harz Water Management". Since yesterday we had already hiked from the Bärenbrucher ponds near Buntenbock to Entensumpf, the remaining 2nd stage now leads us from Entensumpf to Torfhaus.
